WRIST PA ,OBLIQUE,LATERAL VIEWS:-
PA WRIST X-RAYS
PA wrist – This position done to visualize Fractures,
dislocations of the bones, congenital deformities, or other anomalies of wrist
Collimation – to include 1/3 of forearm and Metacarpal bones
Centering point – mid way between the radial and ulnar styloid
processes
Centering ray- perpendicular to the cassette
FFD- 100cm
Cassette orientation - landscape or depend on patient
Cassette size – 24×30cm
Protection – gonads shielding is advisable
Position of patient – the patient should be seated at the
end of the table with legs parallel to the table end and affected limb on the
table and place forearm placed with anterior side on the x-ray table , with
cassette under wrist.
OBLIQUE WRIST
Oblique wrist – This position done to visualize Fractures,
dislocations of the bones, congenital deformities, or other anomalies of wrist
Collimation – to include 1/3 of forearm and Metacarpal bones
Centering point – radial styloid process
Centering ray - perpendicular to the cassette
FFD- 100cm
Cassette orientation - landscape or depend on patient
Cassette size – 24×30 cm
Protection – gonads shielding is advisable
Position of patient – the patient should be seated at the
end of the table with legs parallel to the table end and affected limb on the
table and place forearm placed with anterior side on the x-ray table, with
cassette under wrist and rotate wrist 45° with thumb side raised and rest on
sponge if required.
LATERAL WRIST
Lateral wrist – This position done to visualize Fractures,
dislocations of the bones, congenital deformities, or other anomalies of wrist
Collimation – to include 1/3 of forearm and Metacarpal bones
Centering point – at carpal bones
Centering ray- perpendicular to the cassette
FFD- 100cm
Cassette orientation - landscape or depend on patient
Cassette size – 24×30 cm
Protection – gonads shielding is advisable
Position of patient – the patient should be seated at the
end of the table with legs parallel to the table end and affected limb on the
table and forearm placed with ulnar side on the x-ray table table , cassette under wrist.
SCAPHOID – ULNAR DEVIATION (wrist additional
view)
SCAPHOID – ULNAR DEVIATION (wrist additional
view)
Wrist scaphoid ulnar deviation – This position done to
visualize Fractures, dislocations of the bones, congenital deformities, or
other anomalies of wrist
Collimation – to include carpal bones
Centering point – anatomical snuff box
Centering ray- perpendicular to the cassette
FFD- 100 cm
Cassette orientation - landscape or depend on patient
Cassette size – 24×30 cm
Protection – gonads shielding is advisable
Position of patient – the patient should be seated at the
end of the table with legs parallel to the table end and affected limb on the
table and place forearm placed with anterior side on the x-ray table, with the
wrist in ulnar deviation position.
